TOIL issue at Hakea

Friday 31 Jul 2020

Many members have contacted WAPOU recently reporting that their local HR are not allowing them to acquit the TOIL they accrued at Hakea during the long-running meal breaks dispute.

The issue is still the subject of a dispute between WAPOU and the Department.

The Department has given a number of assurances to WAPOU that they will honour the TOIL, but they are yet to communicate that to local HR Departments or clarify it in writing with WAPOU.

The union is hopeful a positive outcome will be reached in the next two weeks. In the absence of such an outcome, WAPOU will refer the matter back to the WA Industrial Relations Commission. Members will be informed of the outcome either way.
